Our cities present… HIGHLY CHALLENGING INNER CITIES to LEAFY SUBURBIA
Our growing metropolis present diverse conditions to deal with. Inhabitants have to tread through different built environment such as historically significant buildings, open spaces, public buildings, transportation hubs, etc. hastily to reach their destinations. In the current fast forward era, one hardly has time to invest in specifically visiting a museum of his/her interest.
Most of the historically significant buildings stand just as the testimonials to the bygone era often failing to fit into the constantly changing urban fabric & competing with the ever evolving built environment of the current period.
Open spaces are rapidly shrinking. Further, few which are left are often underused. They majorly fail to attract and retain the inhabitants as they fail to connect with.
From time immemorial, societies have crafted informal and formal public spaces (town squares, city centres, plazas, transportation hubs, streets, public museums, public libraries, etc.) across the globe serving as settings for community activities and organization.
The sharply deteriorating relationship between historical buildings, open spaces, public spaces and the communities can be activated through PLAYABLE MUSEUM enhancing public interaction as well as promoting the transformation of remarkable SPATIAL QUALITIES of historical buildings. Most importantly it can provide a unique identifiable reference that reinforces a SENSE OF BELONGING while promoting symbiotic relationship.
Group of spaces with diverse dimensions and shapes…
Historical buildings, open spaces and public buildings offer spaces with diverse dimensions and shapes. These spaces could be used for evolving continuous cultural hub presenting flexible spaces. These spaces could be modified with limited interventions and new built environment. This not only results in adapting already existing space but limit new constructions in already choked cities.
TO CRAFT CONTINOUS AND PRODUCTIVE CULTURAL SPACE REPLACING TRADITIONAL MODE OF CLOSURE AND SOLIDITY.
Design approach intends to create carefully CHOREOGRAPHED and formally IRREGULAR spaces that are specific to SITE & ENVIRONMENT while serving as a REFERENCE to its particular surroundings.
We are in an age where private & public spaces are overlapping and in some cases shifting. With the increased dominance of technology, large numbers of our community are filling up on conversation and interaction in virtual public spaces.
Playable museum intends take advantage of he advent of technology to create spaces that are flexible & multi-functional (specific to site & environment) integrating art works, public and museum as a whole.
