Honorary Board

In order to strengthen the international visibility of the museum and consolidate the network of relationships with other museum institutions in the world, an honorary committee has been formed. This committee is composed of personalities from the world of art and culture, and has the task of supporting and promoting the initiatives of the museum.

Michela Bondardo, president


A pioneer in the contamination between the art and business worlds, in 1987 she founded bondardo communication in Milan, creating extraordinary collaborations between the two sectors. From 1991 to 2001 she was a consultant for the solomon r. guggenheim foundation and created the guggenheim intrapresae project. since 2009, she is a member of the moma contemporary arts council.


Giorgia Abeltino

Director of google’s public policy department for france, italy, greece and malta; she graduated in law, and then earned a masters of law in “european studies” at the bruges college of europe starting work in brussels in the antitrust field, first at the law firm “bonelli erede pappalardo” and then at the european commission, and dg competition. In 2004, she worked in the regulatory affairs department and public affairs of sky italy, and in 2008 moved to new york to work for newscorp, always in the field of regulation and public affairs. In 2010, she joined google, as director of google’s public policy department for france, italy, greece and malta, and starting in 2015 as the google cultural institute’s public policy director. In this capacity, she is committed to the development of projects for the preservation and promotion of world cultural heritage online, in partnership with cultural institutions such as museums, archives and international organizations.


Vittorino Andreoli

A world-renowned psychiatrist and writer, he was director of the psychiatric department of verona – soave, and is a member of the new york academy of sciences.


Contessa Maria Vittoria Colonna Rimbotti

Born in Naples, but a long-time resident of Florence, she works in the business sector and is also involved with the Italian association of women entrepreneurs and executives (aidda) for which she has held the role of president of the tuscan section, and of which she is still honorary president. She is the president of the association “friends of the uffizi” and of the tuscan section of the italian environmental fund (fai). she has received numerous prizes and awards for her social and cultural commitment, including the appointment of an honorary academic of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. she has been a member of the steering committee since 2002.


Francesco Dal Co

Architect and professor of History of Architecture from 1981 to IUAV of Venice, he was a Professor of History of Architecture at Yale University, and, since 1996, he is a Professor of History of Architecture at the Academy of Architecture of the University of Italian Switzerland. He has been a Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies, National Gallery of Art, Washington DC; and a Scholar at the Center for Advanced Study, Getty Center, Los Angeles. He was the director of the Architecture Section of La Biennale di Venezia from 1988 to 1991) and of the Department of History of Architecture of Iuav (1995-2003); since 1996, Director of the magazine «Casabella». An Academic of San Luca since 1989, he curated the first pavilion of the Vatican State at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale.


Nicolas v. Iljine

Advisor to the general director of the state hermitage, he studied mathematics at the sorbonne, specialized in public relations, and worked as general manager for lufthansa airlines, where he developed and implemented sponsorship programs. He is a member of the solomon r. guggenheim foundation for development, sponsorship and pr in europe and middle east. He has been a key element in the development of museum projects such as bilbao, deutsche guggenheim berlin with deutsche bank, the guggenheim-hermitage of las vegas and guggenheim abu dhabi. he has curated numerous architectural competitions, exhibitions in russia at the guggenheim, and three shows in art basel miami. He is a founding member of the kandinsky prize board of trustees.


Laurence Kardish

He started as an assistant in the film department of the MoMa in 1968 and accelerated rapidly, becoming a curator in 1984, and senior curator in 1999. he left in October 2012 after 44 years of his career in the cinema department of the New York institution, after organizing hundreds of special screenings, film shows and exhibitions, as well as, coordinating over 60 film exhibitions at the roy and niuta titus theaters in the museum.


Sylvia Lahav

She has worked for over twenty years in five of London’s major museums: tate britain, tate modern, the national gallery, the national portrait gallery and the v & a. she currently holds the course of education, interpretation and communication in the art museum at the institute for creative and cultural entrepreneurship in london; she is the vice president of the school of economics, management and statistics at the university of bologna; and she teaches visual art management at the richmond, the american international university in london.


Alessandro Mendini

Architect, designer, painter, critic and Italian theorist of architecture and design (born in Milan in 1931), he rose to the forefront of international criticism in the seventies. he is associated with the theoretical foundation of postmodern design and the concepts of banal design (design that uses the trivial as a linguistic code and that “admits the quotation, incongruity, inauthenticity and incompleteness”) and re-design (“decorative work on found objects or on famous design products”). He began his professional activity as a member of studio nizzoli (1960-70), and then alternated with a strong theoretical and critical commitment. he was the protagonist of many of the most important cultural events of the last thirty years of the twentieth century, providing theoretical contributions on the phenomena underway, and creating new schools of thought. he founded and joined cultural movements and research groups of the time: founder and director of fashion design magazines (1977-79) and ollo (since 1988). he also directed the two main Italian architecture magazines: casabella (1970-76) and domus (1979-85). he received the golden compass (1979 and 1981) and the architectural league award (new york, 1983). There are also numerous architectural works of the atelier Mendini, including: hiroshima paradise tower (1989), the groningen museum (1989-94), the hanover bus-stop, and the neubau medienzentrum in hannover (2007). he was a consultant for the strategic design for important companies, such as alessi, bisazza and swatch international. as a designer he created, among other things, the proust armchair (1978, reproduced in 1994).


Mario Nanni

Founder of viabizzuno, he is an artist and designer of light. He designed the illumination of the recently restored moses by michelangelo in the church of san pietro in vincoli in rome. For 40 years, he has been using his experience in the field of light and his professional skills to experiment, design, accompany internationally renowned designers in their work, and to compose his own, personal, design motifs. Creator of the poems of light, which in his artistic language becomes a form of evocative communication through images, stories of light made of icons, symbols, and moving images, such as: always forever (palazzo della mercanzia, piazza della signoria, firenze 2011), the light of the wind (casalgrande padana, reggio emilia 2011), light between the fingers (artistic foundry battle, milan 2010), the light of music (teatro la scala, milan 2009), it rains and wets the light (permanent work for villa panza collection, varese 2009), the narrative wall (the biennial, ca ‘giustinian, venice 2009), o’ dino traces of light (festival of the two worlds, spoleto 2009), arc of light (arco di augusto, rimini 2008), light and voice (lugocontemporanea, lugo 2008), the light I have in mind (the triennale, milano 2007). among his works are: infinitely mine, the fish in a cage, and the warriors of light.


David Parsons

Choreographer, teacher, director and producer of dance, he founded parsons dance in 1985 with lighting designer howell binkley. since then, he has created works for the alvin ailey american dance theater, the american ballet theater, the american dance festival, jacob’s pillow dance festival, new york city ballet, paul taylor dance company, the spoleto festival, and het muziektheater in amsterdam, among others. his works were also performed by the batsheva dance company of Israel, the english national ballet, feld ballets / ny, hubbard street dance company, nederlands dans theater, and paris opera ballet, among others.


Jeffrey Schnapp

Before moving to harvard in 2011, jeffrey schnapp was the Pierotti Professor of Italian History at stanford, where he founded and led the stanford humanities lab between 1999 and 2009. a historian of culture, designer, and curator, whose research interests span from antiquity to today, his most recent books include the electric information age book, modernitalia, digital_humanities, and the library beyond the book. At harvard, he teaches romance and comparative literature, is a member of the faculty of the architecture department at the graduate school of design, and is co-director of the berkman center for internet klein and society. He is the CEO of Piaggio Fast Forward.


Ellyn Toscano

For over twenty years, she was the chief of staff of a member of congress in the US government. since 2004 she has been executive director of the prestigious New York University of Florence, which has its headquarters in the magnificent villa La Pietra.


Fabio Viola

Coordinator of the master in “gamification and engagement design” for ied Milan and author of the book “the art of involvement” for hoepli press, he has worked for the world’s biggest videogame companies (electronic arts mobile, vivendi games, gtech group) and has participated in the launch of hundreds of video games and projects with the idea of playfulness at the center. he was awarded the 2016 “design lectures” award by the fuorisalone di milano, and is president of the cultural association tuomuseo with which he continues to innovate in audience engagement practices in the cultural realm.
