Following Mauro Felicori (Reggia di Caserta), Emma Zanella (MA*GA Gallarate), Anna Maria Montaldo (Polo Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Musei Civici di Milano), Andrea Viliani (MADRE Napoli), Giacinto di Pietrantonio (GAMeC Bergamo) and Peter Assmann (Complesso Museale di Palazzo Ducale di Mantova), the rende il ciclo Director’s Cut series continues with a talk by Gianfranco Maraniello (MART Trento e Rovereto).
Italy is in itself a “boundless museum”. In addition to the “great attractions”, more and more museums that were once considered to be “minor” have made their mark, through their daily activities, playing a new role as protagonists and activists for local development, particularly with regard to the economies linked to cultural tourism. The spaces of these perhaps lesser known museums are wrongly considered to be “small”, and they can have great stories to tell. We therefore, thought of sharing these experiences, often more popular and appreciated abroad than in Italy, through those who, most of all, are engaged in a permanent effort in dialogue, those museum directors who, with passion, dedication and expertise, make ours a great cultural heritage. Often with shrinking economic resources, they succeed in placing their museums in the international context becoming exemplary forerunners of the current best practices. We have therefore invited them to talk about their work and their museums by offering a unique opportunity to the people of the museum sector, but also to the general public, to discover the “behind the scenes” that accompanies the profession, which sometimes goes unrecognized in the processes of “transfer of value “
